The Sri Lanka Australia Chamber of Commerce will lead a second Trade Mission to Colombo, Sri Lanka between the 10-15 of October 2016. This mission has been organised in concurrence with the 16th edition of the World Export Development Forum (WEDF) in Colombo, Sri Lanka, (from 12 to 13 October) and the 5th edition of South Asia’s Largest Boat Show and Exhibition in Colombo, Sri Lanka ( from 13-15 October). The Trade Mission aims to capitalise on the current pace of trade between the two countries by assisting Australian companies in exploring various aspects of doing business with Sri Lanka and the South Asian region in General.

Mitra’s very own Managing Director and Co-Founder Dammika Ganegama is a Vice-President of SLACC, so we have a keen interest in the events at Mitra. We also have a number of Australian customers and this also makes us especially interested in trade between the two nations.

The events

World Export Development Forum: The WEDF brings together over 600 business leaders, policymakers, heads of trade and investment support institutions and international trade development officials to address international competitiveness for developing countries. By so doing, they provide a business-to-business matchmaking platform committed to supporting trade-led development

Boat Show Sri Lanka: The Boat Show and fisheries exhibition provides a forum for the Sri Lankan boat and ship building industry to display and promote their respective sectors to potential clients. The Boat Show focuses on Investment opportunities in boat and ship building, training and marine infrastructure in Sri Lanka.

Trade Mission members will participate in both the WEDF conference and the Boat show (if applicable), attend many networking and matchmaking sessions with Sri Lankan Businesses, and also participate in field visits.

Participants will benefit from the mission in the following ways:

  • Introductions to various business opportunities in several sectors
  • Admittance to major business and government decision makers
  • Unique networking opportunities with local and international business communities and policy makers
  • B2B and B2C meetings with potential partners
