Emerging markets demand better e-commerce.

Whilst e-commerce is matured and saturating in the western world, such capabilities are still considered niche in the emerging markets. Big market players like Amazon and Ebay have started to expand, however, the market dynamics between the two worlds are very different. For instance, most people in the developing countries do not use ‘credit cards’ online; Cash is still the king.

Creative business models and new innovations are required to build similar digital economics in the emerging world. mitra has been exploring this market space over the past year and have conducted a few pilots. We aim to answer the big question: “how to successfully implement an ‘Amazon’ model in a weaker infrastructure environment?”
